Prosperity on Your Plate: Diwali Foods for Attracting Wealth and Luck

With Diwali around the corner, we eagerly prepare to embrace abundance and prosperity by extending heartfelt offerings to both the divine and our cherished ones. While the idea of attracting wealth and luck through specific foods is largely rooted in cultural and symbolic beliefs, here are five foods that are often considered auspicious during Diwali for their symbolic connections to prosperity and good fortune.

I am subtly suggesting a few items that are believed to add an extra touch of luck to your Diwali feast.

  • Dry Fruits and Nuts: Almonds, cashews, pistachios, and other nuts are often associated with prosperity and wealth. Including a variety of dry fruits in your Diwali celebrations is believed to bring good luck and abundance.
  • Jaggery (Gur): Jaggery is considered auspicious and is often used in making traditional sweets. It symbolizes sweetness and is believed to attract good fortune. Dishes like Jeggery Laddu or desserts made with jaggery are commonly prepared during Diwali.
  • Saffron (Kesar): Saffron, with its rich golden color, is associated with wealth and prosperity. Including saffron in dishes like Kesari Bhaat (saffron-infused sweet rice) or using it to garnish desserts is thought to bring good luck and positive energy.
  • Ghee (Clarified Butter): Ghee is a staple in many Diwali recipes and is considered sacred and auspicious. It symbolizes purity and is believed to attract positive vibes and prosperity. Various sweets and dishes prepared with ghee are commonly made during Diwali.
  • Turmeric (Haldi): Turmeric is not only a common spice in Indian cuisine but is also considered auspicious. It is associated with purification and prosperity. Including turmeric in dishes or drinks, like golden milk, during Diwali is believed to bring good luck.

While these foods are often considered auspicious during Diwali, it's essential to remember that the true spirit of the festival lies in celebrating with joy, gratitude, and togetherness. The symbolic significance of these foods varies across different cultural and regional traditions. Wishing you a joyous Diwali and a festive feast filled with happiness and celebration!
