A Good Balance of Spirituality and Indulgence

A Good Balance of Spirituality and Indulgence

Many people believe that in order to be ‘spiritual’ you need to follow a strict way of life. You need to live by a certain set of rules if you claim to being spiritual. If you are aiming to achieve an enlightenment, then I agree that you need to fully commit and be disciplined, but that's what a successful life also required to live. Being spiritual doesn't need always a strong commitment or discipline.

A Good Balance of Spirituality and Indulgence

There is always a difference of opinion on Spirituality And Indulgence. I personally think, both are not much different from each other. In a realm of spirituality, when we do meditation, we think of something we indulge in. We imagine and think, what makes us happy and give us joy and all joys comes from the indulgences. The theory of indulgences itself claims that life should be enjoyed. I also experienced that when I allow myself into indulgences and feel good about it, I never feel the need to overindulging into anything, and that's how I discipline myself by not being unbalanced.

This is important to understand that all indulgences are not a bad approach to spirituality. Stopping eating a bag of chips, enjoying a glass of wine, coffee, chocolate or restrict or deny yourself on to anything, which you love to eat or to do, does not make you more or less spiritual, nor does it fast-track you down the spiritual path. I believe that we are here to experience life so, let's not take the joy out of it because we choose a spiritual path.

I strongly believe into balance and overindulging into anything disturbs the balance. Once you balance your spirituality and indulgence in a proper proportionate, you become more loving and accepting towards yourself and all indulgences feel good. In fact, it makes you someone who can appreciate spirituality in all things.

A Good Balance of Spirituality and Indulgence

We are human being with lots of emotions that are to be experienced, not labelled as good and bad. We don’t need to suppress the so called ‘bad’ emotions simply because they don’t fit the worldly view of being a spiritual person. At our core we are all spiritual beings, regardless of how we live our lives.

If you are not pursuing enlightenment, then enjoy your spiritual journey with a healthy dose of balance. Stop being critical of yourself just because you’ve enjoyed a glass of wine. You’re not a less spiritual person if you enjoy dancing in a nightclub or reading a good thriller. Try to live a life by keeping these two simple rules in your mind:

1. Harm no one Emotionally and Physically!
2. Spread love and light wherever you go!

Everything else in life is open for discussion and available to be experienced – the choice is ours.

So in the spirit of being spiritual don’t forget to have fun and do whatever makes your heart sing. Take the limit off what it means to be spiritual. Remove all the judgments. They don’t serve your highest evolution. Being balanced is actually a healthy and a wonderful way to live spiritually.
